I might be in trouble because I have picked so many good books for this month-usually I count on losing interest in a few of them, so I always choose too many to read and it all balances out in the end. That may not happen this month. Especially since I have a couple bigger books-The Passage is over 700 pages long! Yipe.
(As always, any links to Amazon or similar will earn me a small kickback if you buy something. Also, I have received some ebooks from NetGalley in exchange for my review but that does not influence my opinion of the books.)
Full list of hard copies pictured above, left to right:
Evicted by Matthew Desmond (I have a feeling this one is going to be painful.) (Edited to add: I was right.)
Siblings Without Rivalry by Adele Faber and Elaine Mazlish (Read another parenting book by these authors that I did not like at all. I’m hoping this one is better.)
My Cousin Rachel by Daphne Du Maurier (I was in no way influenced to buy this book because I saw it was being made into a movie starring Rachel Weisz and Sam Claflin. Not at all.)
Reading Like a Writer by Francine Prose (I’m excited for this one. I’m trying to read more nonfiction this year.)
Reconstructing Amelia by Kimberly McCreight (This was passed on to me by someone in a book group on Facebook. I have heard some mixed reviews-hoping I like it!)
The Passage by Justin Cronin (Everyone seems to have read this! I’ve been putting it off. It’s just so big. I’m not sure I’m ready to commit to that long of a book relationship.)
The Lifeboat by Charlotte Rogan (I found this book on my shelf and have no memory of buying it, even though trusty Amazon says I did. The summary looks good though, so I’ll give it go.)
The Invisible Library by Genevieve Cogman (I’ve started this several times and keep putting it down. This time I am either going to finish it or declare it a dud and pass it along.)
Did You Ever Have a Family by Bill Clegg (This looks depressing but also interesting. Just the kind of book I love.)
The End of Your Life Book Club by Will Schwalbe (Another nonfiction-this one a memoir, which I don’t read a lot of. There is guaranteed parental death so I’m hoping it’s worth enduring that.)
The Tea Planter’s Wife by Dinah Jefferies (Another book that I’m unclear about the origins of it. Even more baffling is the fact that I have the UK version?? I don’t know how this happened. I started this during February but only got a couple chapters in. Good so far.)
You by Caroline Kepnes (This is my most anticipated book this month. I am loving these dark thrillers lately.)
Essentialism: The Disciplined Pursuit of Less by Greg McKeown (Another book I meant to get to in February and didn’t. Hopefully it will not tell me to pursue fewer books.)
Perfect Little World by Kevin Wilson (I picked this for my Book of the Month subscription last month. It looks trippy.)
Behind Her Eyes by Sarah Pinborough (My other Book of the Month pick from last month. I never end up with just one. Again with the creepy thrillers…I can’t wait for this one.)
Behind Closed Doors by B. A. Paris (I’m planning to pick this up as soon as I finish this post. More dark and creepy, this one with bonus suspicious husband.)
I also have three ebooks from NetGalley to read:
The Beachhead by Christopher Mari (This will be out March 21st. I haven’t read many dystopian, end of the world novels lately so I’m looking forward to this one!)
The Hollywood Daughter by Kate Alcott (Author of The Dressmaker, which I LOVED. I’m hoping this is as good. This one will be out March 7th.)
Seven Days of You by Cecilia Vinesse (This one is also out March 7th. It looks light and fluffy and fun! I will need a break from dark and creepy.)
Happy reading!
