I love a good surprise, and this book delivered! Usually, I can figure out the plot twists ahead of time-so when I say that this book kept me guessing until the very last pages, that’s a huge compliment to the authors and the story they have crafted.
The sheer size of this book is a bit daunting, being a very solid 599 pages, but it goes fast. I read it in a single afternoon, because I simply could not put it down! I described this book to my husband as Firefly meets The Matrix, but still very original. It revolves around Kady and Ezra, and their flight to safety after their distant planet was attacked.
The layout and execution of the story is different than anything I’ve ever read, and going through the book is like an adventure. It’s very fast moving and sucks you in immediately. The transcripts of the AI on the ship are at times fascinating and other times chilling. The interactions with Aiden, as the AI is named, were some of my favorite parts of the book.
I can’t wait to read the sequel, Gemina, although if I finish it as quickly as I did this one I will have a very long wait until the third book comes out!
One of my top five books for the year, I would highly recommend checking it out immediately!
